The good news, in six steps

1. You are loved by God

   Before you did anything right or wrong, God loved you. You were made on purpose, by a Father who knows your name and wants you home. That is where the story starts: not with rules, but with love.

   For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. — John 3:16

2. Sin separates us from Him

   Every one of us has gone our own way. We have all done, said, and thought things that break God's heart and break us. Sin is not just bad behaviour; it is a broken relationship with the One who made us, and we cannot fix it on our own.

   for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, — Romans 3:23

3. Jesus died and rose again for you

   God did not leave us there. Jesus, the Son of God, lived the life we could not live, died on the cross in our place, and rose from the dead on the third day. He took the penalty we owed and opened the way back to the Father.

   but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. — Romans 5:8

4. Salvation is a gift, not a wage

   You cannot earn this and you do not have to clean yourself up first. Forgiveness and eternal life are a free gift of grace, received by trusting Jesus. Not religion. Not trying harder. A relationship with a Saviour who already did the work.

   For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. — Ephesians 2:8–9

5. Respond: turn and trust

   To receive the gift, you turn from going your own way and put your trust in Jesus as Lord. It is a decision of the heart spoken out loud to God. Scripture promises that everyone who calls on Him will be saved.

   because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. — Romans 10:9

6. New life starts now

   Following Jesus is not the end of your story; it is the beginning of a new one. He forgives, He makes you new, and He walks with you every day by His Spirit. You do not have to have it all figured out. You just have to follow Him.

   Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. — 2 Corinthians 5:17

A prayer to receive Jesus

Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God. I believe You died on the cross for my sins and rose again. I have gone my own way, and I am sorry. Please forgive me. Today I turn from my sin and put my trust in You. Be my Lord and my Saviour. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and lead my life from this day on. Thank You for loving me and making me new. In Jesus' name, amen.
