Matthew 6:33 at Work — Not Just in Devotions

By · Updated

Seeking first the Kingdom is not a morning quiet-time slogan. It is how you run a business, a job site, a meeting, and a payroll when nobody is watching.

Matthew 6:33 at Work — Not Just in Devotions

The Verse Has to Survive Monday

“Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33). I have built brands around that sentence. I have also had to obey it in invoices, hiring, delays, and the temptation to make anxiety the COO of the company.

If “seek first” only works in a journal, it is not the Gospel Jesus preached. He was talking to people worried about food, clothing, and tomorrow. That is a workplace sermon. The Kingdom is not a department. It is the King in the middle of the work.

What Kingdom-First Work Looks Like

  • Tell the truth in the pitch. Excellence is worship. Hype is not.
  • Pay people on time. Righteousness has a payroll. James is not optional (James 5:4).
  • Refuse the shortcut that costs your witness. A closed door in integrity is still provision.
  • Build something that can fund the harvest. Profit is not the enemy. Profit as a god is.
  • Pray over the calendar, not just the crisis. Strategy meetings without the Holy Spirit become arguments with nicer vocabulary.

Business Is Not a Break from Ministry

Some of the most spiritual work I do never hits a stage. It looks like a brand that tells the truth, a product that serves people, and revenue that can keep a park gathering free. That is why Seek First: World and SIX33 Outpost exist — not as merch for a personality, but as culture that points to a King.

If you lead a team, start the week with Matthew 6:33 before the dashboard. If you want language for this in your company or church, book a conversation. If you want the wider map, walk the build page and the Kingdom ecosystem.

Seek Him first at the desk. The rest is His to add — including the peace that anxiety cannot counterfeit.
